Chief Executive - Kevin Duckworth
Kevin Duckworth is Chief Executive of Energy Market Services. He has had an extensive background in the Energy industry in New Zealand, having been General Manager, Energy at Industrial Research Ltd following a career as a DSIR scientist. This role included responsibility for the Measurement Standards Laboratory which provides New Zealand's primary physical standards. He has also chaired the Foundation for Research Science and Technology committee allocating funds for Energy research.
He has worked in technology commercialisation and engineering consulting including roles as GM, Business Development at Transpower, as Chief Executive of Materials Performance Technologies Ltd, and as a director of companies in New Zealand, Australia and Singapore. Mr Duckworth is also a director of d-cypha Trade Ltd, EMS’ sister company in Australia. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) and Masters of Business Administration and is a member of the Institute of Directors.
Commercial and Finance Manager - Richard Rowell
As Commercial and Finance Manager Richard is responsible for EMS’ commercial relationships with the industry and its participants and EMS' information technology and finance divisions. Richard has worked as a system design expert in the electricity industry since 1996 and in that time has developed unique in depth knowledge of market reconciliation processes and rules. Richard was the Lead Designer and subject matter expert for the profiling and reconciliation system for the NZ electricity market and the profiling and meter data management solution for the Australia Electricity Market MSATS system. Richard is a member of the Institute of Directors.
Service Delivery Manager - Quintin Tahau
Quintin Tahau is Service Delivery Manager at EMS. Quintin’s responsibilities at EMS include the development of strong industry and stakeholder relationships, strategic planning, market intelligence and leadership across multiple business divisions. Quintin has developed and supported business solutions that have led to EMS’ operational excellence and ISO 9001 compliance. Before joining EMS in 2001, Quintin had over 7 years’ experience in Business Development and IT Consultancy across multiple environments, industries and sectors including electricity, telecommunications, insurance and property. Quintin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Victoria University of Wellington and is a member of the Institute of Directors.
Metering Services Manager - Ian Martin
As Metering Services Manager, Ian is responsible for the management of EMS’ grid metering and data collection activities. Ian oversees the approval of grid metering designs and settings, collection and processing of grid metering data and the management of grid metering activities and projects. Ian has over 30 years experience in the electricity industry including the role of Engineering Manager at Metering Systems Ltd (MSL) and Technician, Engineering Design and Project Manager at The Power Company. Ian continues to demonstrate extensive specialist knowledge in the areas of metering, remote data collection and load control. Ian has been a member of the COP D5 Review Panel since 2007.
Marketing Manager - Scott Smith
Scott Smith is Marketing Manager at EMS with over 10 years experience in the utilities sector including 3 years at EMS. Scott is responsible for driving acquisition and retention marketing and business development strategies to meet EMS' objectives. Prior to joining EMS, he spent 3 years in the UK as Product Manager with Centrica Plc building the B2C telecoms product portfolio for the Onetel brand and as Product Manager with Tiscali UK Ltd helping to enhance the reputation of its B2B telecoms product portfolio. His early career was spent in a number of Project Management roles within the UK retail and internet payments sectors. Scott completed his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) at Victoria University of Wellington in June 2008.
