A new North Island Wind Generation graph was released onto the em6 platform this week, showing potential energy generation based on weather predictions, against generator forecasts. A valuable tool heading into winter for monitoring peak demand periods, the graph is free on both the public and premium em6 dashboards.
The graph is part of a suite of new information tools commissioned by the Electricity Authority and shows potential wind energy represented by probability bands looking 36 hours ahead. Aggregated wind offered data based on forecasts submitted by generators is plotted, and a discrepancy is also calculated, which indicates whether offers are below or above the weather predictions.
